Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls stands out as one of the magnificent seven hiking areas within the Hocking Hills State Park system, which includes: Old Man's Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, Ash Cave, Hemlock Bridge Trail leading to Whispering Cave, and Cantwell Cliffs.

From a hiker’s perspective, Cedar Falls is another one of those places that’s a must-see with its waterfall and the wooden boardwalk towards the end. There are many steps, both going in and coming out. Hikers follow a creek that leads to the falls, then go up a wooden stairway that leads through one of the park’s prettiest areas of rock formations. It has flushable toilets in the parking area.

From reviews: The stone cliffs and creek make it a great hiking area. There are places to sit and take a break along the trail, and the waterfall is like no other at the park, especially in the spring when it flows more aggressively.

The Look: At Cedar Falls, huge hemlocks, a picture-perfect waterfall, and craggy cliffs bring folks back from year to year.

Dogs are welcome on this trail as long as they are on a 6-foot leash, well-behaved, and under the owner's control.

Interesting things to look for: One of the more popular trails is Cedar Falls. Visitors describe it as stepping into an enchanted forest, surrounded by massive hemlocks, well-worn paths, and rugged cliffs. Historically, a grist mill was situated at the top of the falls, where an A-frame bridge now stands. If you look closely at the steps, you'll find a grist mill stone that was once used to grind corn into flour. From the bridge, you can also spot the remnants of the old mill in the stream below.

Length: The path is approximately a 1/2 mile long with steps. It is a one-way trail system with a waterfall, bridges, and unique rock formations.
