Whispering Cave

The Whispering Cave Trail is a standout among the seven hiking areas within the Hocking Hills State Park system, which includes Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, Cedar Falls, the Hemlock Bridge Trail to Whispering Cave, and Cantwell Cliffs. Each area delivers a distinct and unforgettable experience, featuring hemlock-lined trails, striking rock formations, captivating waterfalls, and natural rock bridges. Visitors will undoubtedly treasure their explorations for years to come.

With over 25 miles of trails, the Hocking Hills State Park system showcases an abundance of forested areas and stunning natural wonders. All trails are designed as one-way loops for safety; hikers must strictly adhere to the one-way signs and cannot turn around or go against the flow of foot traffic. This structure ensures a secure and enjoyable hiking experience for everyone.

The Look: This is a 5-mile Day Trip Hike. It is one way in and one way out loop trail so hikers must be prepared to hike the entire trail. A trail also leads to a peaceful overlook, then descends downward toward Whispering Cave with a seasonal waterfall. Along the way, rock formations, recess caves and cliffs line the trail. There is a swinging bridge over Old Man's Creek.

Dogs are welcome on this trail as long as they are on a 6-foot leash, well-behaved, and under the owner's control. There are steps.

Interesting things to look for: Take a walk to Whispering Cave. Look for Jack in the Pulpet and other unique wildflowers along the way in spring.

Length: Parking is located at Old Man's Cave to access trail (it is a 5-mile, one-way loop. To hike this trail, you must go the entire 5 mile loop as it is one way).
